The project sope
The original site was built in 1939 and had exceeded the lifespan it was built for, and more maintenance is needed. A £350M project was undertaken by our client for major upgrade works. Approaching Steelway our client wanted us to provide the security fencing and access metalwork for this water site.
Project requirements
The project management team of Steelway collaborated closely with the client to generate all essential documentation, comprising comprehensive and detailed drawings, a quotation, an all-inclusive programme of works, and complete RAMS for installation. Prior to installation, Steelway conducted a site survey to gather full information.
Within 2 weeks of the initial quotation & startup meeting, Steelway had surveyed comprehensively, and within a further 2 weeks, full drawings had been created and released for approval. After the Christmas shutdown, Steelway began manufacturing all items and completed this within the agreed 5-week manufacturing window. Full installation followed immediately (over a 7-week time span) and was completed in the required and agreed timeframe.
The client within this time frame also engaged with Steelway for additional security rated fencing works for a transformer area, an additional double gate (designed to specifications) as well as an additional 21.6m of security fencing.
The solution
Steelway designed, produced and installed a bespoke solution, customised to the precise requirements of the customer and the unique needs of the site and timescales. Effectively deploying on site personnel. The Steelway strategy provided assurance that all goods could be safely transported and lifted into place using authorised equipment and procedures, facilitating a secure, efficient, dependable and timely installation.
